  2. Ares LTI is inconsistent about setting user's types to Instructor.

When an existing user comes into Ares through LTI with the role of Instructor, their Ares user type will be set to Instructor only if Ares needs to create the course. If the course already exists, they will be assigned as the instructor but their Ares user type can remain as User.

  3. The CourseUserType for a user is not updated when an LTI role is changes when the CourseUser entry already exists

    To reproduce:
    1. Use the LTI Consumer Simulation tool to launch a course that already exists with a non-instructor role. The launch action will call EnrollUser(isInstructor: false) so the CourseUser entry is added as a User.
    2. Change the role of the user on the LTI Consumer simulation tool to a valid instructor role and launch again. The user will be brought to the course page in Ares as a student.

  5. Creating a course through the LTI endpoint can fail if the user does not have an instructor role

Though a course may be created by either an instructor or proxy instructor through the LTI endpoint, an error will occur if the user only has proxy instructor status.

  6. Brightspace LTI Vulnerability

A vulnerability was discovered in the LTI standard that allows people to construct a link which uses the attacker's session and could trick a user into performing actions with the attacker's identity. Atlas is working with Brightspace to ensure Ares accommodates any functional changes Brightspace will be making to combat this vulnerability.

  8. LTI Content Item Selection Request in Moodle does not appear on the first load

Workaround: Redirecting back and forth by clicking another tab will make the button appear since it will prompt the buttons populated on the LTIContentItem.js to become visible in the frame.
