An error occurred while saving the comment Jennifer Cotton commentedWe're using Sharestream to host content that's encoded for streaming, but I'm not the biggest fan of the product. (My team inherited streaming media reserves from a different group, as it used to be run completely separately from the rest of course reserves.)
It would fill me with joy if there were a way to host streaming content in Ares (that would allow us to restrict the viewing to members of the course and to prevent downloads). Currently we've moved the requesting for streaming media reserves into Ares, because it's much easier for us and the instructors to track where things are in the process, and we're linking to licensed streaming content (e.g. Kanopy, Films on Demand, Alexander Street Press) in Ares. But for streaming material that we're hosting, the completed Ares requests just direct users to the separate streaming media module in the LMS. It's better than things were (at least instructors can see their in-process requests, and the students can see the listing for all the class materials in one place), but it's not as streamlined as I would like to see things, for us or our users.

An error occurred while saving the comment Jennifer Cotton commentedIn response to Theresa, I had been assuming that even if instructors who share their materials must do so at a course level, instructors who were cloning things into their new course would be able to do so at an item level. Is that the wrong assumption?

This one is causing substantial issues for us. Especially since at various times we have people working in person (using larger computer screens and able to see the notes) and working remotely (using smaller computer screens and unable to see the notes field).
