Make Visually Similar Characters Interchangeable in Searches
It would be helpful if confusable characters, lookalikes, homoglyphs, and diacritics were treated as interchangeable when conducting searches. Currently, it seems that searches require the exact Unicode characters used in the item being searched for. This can be problematic because text copied from an original source may include a variant of a character that users might not recognize or know how to input when later searching for the same item. As a result, they may not be able to find the item they are looking for. For example, a user searching for "Cost-Effectiveness Thresholds" with a keyboard hyphen will not…

Add Instructor Tags to Bulk Edit Items
I would like to be able to bulk edit instructor tags in an ares course record. The bulk edit items button has a lot of columns that you can edit at one time, but it doesn't include the instructor tags column. If possible could we add this column to the bulk edit items button?

Make the Bulk Item Editor customizable for all Ares template fields
I come across the issue of cloning items into a new semester but needing to change the dates of each item individually. It would save a heap ton of time to be able to bulk edit the items in the Instructor Tag field with the new dates. Unfortunately this is not a field that is included in the bulk item editor. Perhaps it can be added in the customization manager or included in the next update.

Add file size to the grid
It would be nice to have "file size" added to grids. Sometimes professors or staff provide PDFs that are extremely large. It would be nice to sort for these to be able to replace them with reduced size PDFs. This is helpful for students (to not have to download such huge files) and for database management. Thank you!

Ares client hosted
To save time and energy and to have seamless client upgrades/fixes, the staff client should be cloud-based for hosted servers. Too much time is wasted upgrading every client workstation and making sure related software is also up to date.

Include a column for last flag added
The new column would show the LastFlag added in the item grid and only display whichever flag name from the ItemFlags table that had the most recent date.

Include submission date in Items table
It would be nice to include the submission date as a field in the Items table. Currently, this is only a field in the History table and cannot be displayed in the results table when you run a search

Add ability to increase font size in the client
The font size in the client is very small and difficult for people who have visual impairment. But there doesn't seem to be a way to customize the font size in client options.

Allow requests to be sent back and forth between Ares and ILLiad
If a professor wants an item in Ares, but they have to get it through ILL, allow the requests to be sent to ILLiad and then back to Ares once the item has been received by the ILL department. Ideally, this process would work similar to the Aeon and ILLiad integration through the Web Platform.

Save Customized Grids
I would like this Aeon feature added to the Ares.
I am try to Save the grid customization I have created:"Staff users with layout customization permissions can also save grid customizations as .xml files that can be shared with other users and uploaded onto their client forms."
I want to be able to upload the file to use as my grid in every instance I needed. I want the same grid in each queue and for all my search results. We have 10 queues (or more as we add) and I have to “customize” them from scratch.

EDU for Ares
We would like to have a separate tool for upload of documents into the Ares similar to the EDU for ILLiad.
This would help us reduce the applications our scanning staff need to know (and we don't want to give them access to entries that they might inadvertently change).
Ideally, this tool would allow us to send to a queue of our choice instead of being hardwired to go straight to 'Item Available for Reserves'. This would allow us to proof the documents before they are delivered for courses.
The BatchItemUpload feature still uses the Ares client. I’d like a…

Add CurrentStatus to the list of fields available for update in the Bulk Edit feature.ent.
There are times when I need to review all items in a course, select several from the grid view, and route several to a new status. The easiest way to identify all items associated with a course is by opening the course record and clicking on the Items tab. There is no Route button in this menu and the Bulk Update button, which seems like it should be able to bulk update items to a new status, does not give CurrentStatus as an option. There is no option to search by CourseID from the Course Information Item search on the…

Bulk edit Proxy field for items and search on location
Ares bulk edit feature for item records is nice, but it does not include all the fields on the item record. We have a relatively common scenario in which we have moved a subscription database from IP Proxy to SSO for remote access. In this case, it would be nice to select items based on the URL used in Location, and then do a bulk update of the Proxy field. It would be even better if we could also do a Find/Replace in the URL in cases where the URL format changes.

Page Count should understand en dashes as well as hyphens in the Pages field.
According to several style guides (APA, Chicago, etc.), the proper way to write page ranges is to use an en dash, not a hyphen (so 251–75, not 251-75). While most people use a hyphen, there is a significant population of faculty and PhD students who enter citations the "correct" way with an en dash, and Ares doesn't understand it. In order for the page count to work in that case, staff must delete the en dash and replace it with a hyphen. This shouldn't be necessary; Ares should understand both ways of writing a page range and automatically use that…

Allow customers to determine which status/queue batch scanning lands in
We would like to enable a quality control check before scans go out for consumption by patrons. Frequently, scanners are also faster than copyright holders for getting items attached, so we would like to send to a 'Scan - QC' queue to let all of the parallel processes catch up before releasing.. Unfortunately, the status rule for batch processing is hard-coded to 'Available in Electronic Reserves', so we have to publich, then unpublish the items. This feels inefficient.

Allow searching of Course ID in Course Info Item Search
The item Course Information Search criteria should include the Ares Course ID and retrieve the list of items on that course. This would address a common need to batch route a set of items associated with a course. Alternately, allow the batch edit to change a current status.
My current workaround is to visit the queue where the majority of items are held, filter to the course number, and batch route.

Allow custom defaults for ItemType new item creation settings in the staff client
Grinnell College would like the option to have new items that are created in the staff client to default to SER, instead of the current option, MON, in the ItemType field.

Multiple/Customizable Batch Printing Jobs and/or filters
Princeton assigns courses to particular staff users and that staff user is responsible for pulling items in batches, just for his/her own set of courses. It is an issue for all staff users to place requests in the Awaiting Stacks Searching queue, because printing pull slips would print out slips for other staff members, who might not be ready to print. Using the MSWord filter could potentially remove these slips from the print queue, but the other staff member's requests would still be moved to In Stacks Searching, causing confusion. It would be helpful if there were a way to…
