DOI - improve DOI searching options
Instructor wants to just put in a DOI for an article request and feels that since that is a unique identifier for an article that it should be all he needs to enter. Make this work unmediated, either via an enhancement or via an addon, that would be really great! Ticket 5983
The DOI Resolver Addon for use with ILLiad 9.1 Decision Support Pipeline is available at: https://atlas-sys.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ILLiadAddons/pages/81461327/ILLiad+DOI+Resolver+DSP+Addon

Would love to see this enhancement and the home grown DOI resolver for request form mentioned by melissaeb from UMaryland

Also, a DOI resolver is a great way to do two other things: 1. Display the OA version of an article found online before the user submits the request (via an OA database API, Open Access or Unpaywall) and 2) use it to clean up incomplete citations.

There are a few libraries who have added a home-grown DOI resolver to their article request form, thanks to the University of Maryland who developed it! It is very popular with both patrons and library staff who have been asking for a way to input requests into a blank form in some automated way (outside of OpenURL). Many users are working from a list of citations. It would also be nice to have a resolver for the metadata in a standard bibliographic citation (APA, MLA). We would love to see this built into ILLiad request forms.
