  1. Error message appears in Ares Client when CopyrightMethod and CCCUsername are set to certain values

    Beginning with Ares v5.0.9, an "Error Saving Copyright Information" message box prompt will appear after logging into the Ares Client when the CopyrightMethod customization key is set to "AlternateProvider" and the CCCUsername customization key contains a value.

    Workaround: Set the CopyrightMethod customization key to "None" or clear out the value in the CCCUsername customization key.

  2. Resizing prevents access to Notes in Ares Item record

    When scaling an item record's window down, the notes field becomes inaccessible, even when a note is present.

  3. CourseUserLoad service may not report some data load errors.

  4. When cloning a course in the web, Ares item with document type 'Create' ignore the ForceReviewOnClone setting for their DocumentType.

    This may be an opportunity to just remove the "Create" option in favor of instructors just uploading docs or pdf files.

  7. Z39.50 may duplicate item records for holdings

    Z39.50 will pull in any hardcoded holding elements in the XML for a holding record, which can cause the first item listed in the record to be duplicated in Ares.

  8. Ares web pages may display duplicate instructor course menus

    If a user is both an instructor and a full proxy of another instructor for the same course, the Ares LMS web pages will display duplicate instructor menus on the web interface.

    Note: The Ares default web pages will hide the duplicate menu behind the original so there isn't a visible issue. However, the default pages may also display both menus depending on site-specific CSS customizations.

  9. Emails can't be sent using certain email template tags

    The Course.InstructorsEmail, Course.FullProxiesEmail, and Course.CourseProxiesEmail email template tags will append a comma to end the of the email addresses used to populate the tag when the email is generated, which will cause the email to fail to send.

  10. Adding a shared item list that contains an item with an electronic file causes error

    When adding a shared item list to a course, if any of the shared list items has an associated electronic file, an error will be thrown and that item (and subsequent items) will not be added to the course.

  11. Byte arrays passed to .NET methods are converted to null due to an NLua bug

    Byte arrays (often referred to as Byte[] in Microsoft's .NET documentation) passed from Lua to .NET methods are converted to null, causing those .NET methods to fail when included in addon code.

    This is a known NLua bug present in the version of the NLua component used by the Ares application, detailed here: https://github.com/NLua/NLua/issues/438.

    Some characters (such as those with diacritics) are not properly encoded in log files.

  17. CCC order cost calculated incorrectly when CopyrightCourseStudents is "Ares Students"

    When the CopyrightCourseStudents customization key is set to "Ares Students," whenever a CCC order is estimated, the estimated cost will be based on the correct number of students but when the order is submitted, the value in the CopyrightDefaultStudents customization key will be used to calculate the cost instead.

  18. Changing processing location breaks CCC copyright searching

    Using the "Change Processing Site" option from the main menu in the Ares Client will break CCC searching for all processing locations until the Client has been closed and restarted.

    Workaround: Close the Ares Client and log into the new processing location instead of using the "Change Processing Site" feature.

  19. Email subject encoding can fail for non-ASCII characters

    Encoding for the subject line of an email sent from Ares can fail if it contains non-ASCII characters.

    Workaround: If an email is bounced back for this issue, you can change the subject line of the email to remove any non-basic characters

  20. Setting the CopyrightMethod key to "AlternateProvider" may trigger CCC error messages

    A null username error may display in the Ares Client when performing copyright searches if the CopyrightMethod customization key in the Ares Customization Manager is set to AlternateProvider, even if valid CCC account credentials are configured in the Customization Manager.

    Workaround: Set the CopyrightMethod key to CCC
