An error occurred while saving the comment Jenny Vitti commentedCurrently, when a new reading is added to a course where the items are already sorted, the new item goes to the top of the list. I think keeping that same function makes sense -- so whether you're adding a new individual item, cloning an individual item, or cloning a group of items, it/they would go to the top of whatever readings are already in the course.
In my experience, most instructors clone items before making changes or adding new items, but of course it's good to figure out what would happen if anyone deviates from that norm.
Best,

An error occurred while saving the comment Jenny Vitti commentedThis would be helpful! At our library we'd still prefer to circulate hard copy reserves in our ILS -- our circ students are already painfully confused that we have a separate circ system for ILL materials -- but gathering the stats all in one place would be great.

An error occurred while saving the comment Jenny Vitti commentedWe track how many items we physically scan each semester, in addition to the total number of electronic items on reserve each semester. However, since many instructors clone their previous classes, it's difficult to determine which PDFs were simply cloned, and which were scanned new. It would be great if the Created Via field (or some other field) indicated that an item record was cloned vs. created for the first time.

We have quite a few courses at our institutions that admins have to manually activate just so students can get to their readings. The instructors never log in, and there doesn't seem to be any problems with that from the perspectives of the admins or the instructors.
This could be a feature that's turned on or off in the customization manager, though, so that institutions that would have concerns could avoid turning on the feature.
