  1. Being able to add individual items to multiple courses at one time, including instructor uploads

Instructors would like to be able to add an item to multiple courses at the point they fill in the request form. For example, many of our faculty teach two or more sections of a course. Mid-semester they may add an additional article. After filling in the article form, it would be great if they could check off other current classes they'd like it added to at the same time. That way they do not have to go back and clone the item into each section.

  2. Make Static Alerts on the GLogon pages editable from within the client.

GLogon.html and GLogon2.html have spaces available for including static alerts that can be seen without logging in. Instead of editing the html of those pages to change those static alerts, it would be nice if it were editable in the client interface.

  3. Remove tabindex=0 on elements that do not need focus

the tabindex=0 should be removed from any elements that do not explicitly need to be focusable via tab. Screen readers users will be able to reach the text regardless whether it is in the tab order or not. It'll likely just confuse keyboard users.

  4. Remove Inline Styles from IRFMenu.html

The inline styles prevents us from being able to modify the menu via CSS.

  5. Allow Full Proxy users to import courses from CourseValidation in the web

If the Instructor is unavailable to import upcoming courses from Course Validation, it would be best if their Full Proxy users were able to see those courses that are in CourseValidation for the instructors they're associated with. Right now these courses do not show at all to the full proxies unless the have already been imported either by the instructor or by staff via the client.

  6. Allow the Instructor Item Tags column to show in the CloneItems table

The Item table tag allows for the Tags column to show, but the list of items in the ICourseClone.html page is in the ClonedItems table tag and that one doesn't allow you to add the Tags column. (resource: https://prometheus.atlas-sys.com/display/Ares/Ares+TABLE+Tag)

It would be nice to be able to include the Tags column there so instructors would see if they want to clone the tags or not, and can check/uncheck items based on what they have them tagged with.

  7. Want to have an ebook item icon vs just a weblink item icon for all links in the web

Right now all weblinks use the same icon. But for Ebook items some sites mentioned at the Access Services conference that they would like ebooks to have their own icon vs just a weblink icon.

  8. Allow instructors to place OpenURL requests without a course

At the Access Services Conference in 2017, several sites mentioned they would like Instructors to be able to place OpenURL requests without first having to have a course to attach them to. Maybe having a dummy course (similar to how there is a ValidationUser as a dummy instructor) for these items to live under until a course can later be created. It would be appropriate in this case for the Instructor to be attached somehow to the item so that the item could later be attached to a course under that instructor.

  9. Allow instructors to batch change/remove tags on the web.

Allow instructors to batch change/remove tags on the web. Right now instructors can batch add (4.7 release) but not batch edit or remove.

  10. Make OpenURL importing smarter regarding possible blank values

If an OpenURL string contains a field with a blank value, skip that field and use one of the later ones in the string that does contain a value.

  11. recommender services via JSON

include a space in the service request pages (openURLBook etc) that allow the query of json results to different recommender services based on mediaType (syndetics for books, bx recommender service for articles, etc.)

  13. Greater flexibility re: selection of document type in IRF/IRF edit forms

When an instructor selects the supply method in any IRF or IRFEdit forms, the document type for the item appears to be selected automatically based on the supply method chosen. For instance, Purchase selects the document type of Hard Copy; WebLink selects the document type of Web Page Link.

If we want Purchase to select for another document type, we cannot make this happen through the HTML code or through the Customization Manager (at least not that we could find). This is problematic when creating forms for new types of material, in which the supply methods given do not correctly…

  14. Print Course Reading Lists

It would be really helpful for a number of professors to be able to print a course reading list. The Export Course Info option produces a (not very well formatted) excel file that has a lot of extra system information that professors don't need. It would be nice for Ares to produce a Word doc (or something similar) that professors could download that lists just the course information (title, code, section, semester etc.) and the readings associated with it.

  15. Allow instructors to clone items from other instructors' courses

This is a common request from new implementations and also prospective Ares sales. Libraries would like for instructors to be able to access other courses from different instructors so that they can clone items to their own courses. This is especially helpful with multiple instructors who teach various course sections. Shared lists do not solve this problem for two reasons: the instructors would only be able to see a multi-instructor shared list of items if it was department-based, and if the instructors belonged to the same department, and if the department was filled out in the instructor's user records to…

  17. Prompt instructors for Date Needed by when importing/cloning requests

The Date Needed By field provides important data for managing workflow and assessing quality of service provided by Reserves staff (i.e., what percentage of requests are filled by this date). We require this field when instructors submit new requests and would like to also require (or at least prompt for it) when importing requests from a prior course. Currently the Date Needed By from prior semesters clone, which isn't useful for managing workflow or for assessing service.

  20. Prevent students from being able to view an instructor form via a direct link

If an instructor sends the link to the instructor view of an item to a student, it's not clear why it's not working.
