Add a Copyright "Fair Use" check box to Ares web forms and functionality
Add in a check box to Ares web forms so that requests (instructors/faculty) can indicate they are using an eReserve item under fair use. Possibly route items that are not a fair use to a queue for mediation. I hear Leganto has something like this.

My library did employ a custom work around where we linked functionality to the Copyright Obtained check box and routed any article requests without this box checked to a custom queue for copyright review/order submitting by staff. If the faculty member checks it is fair use, library licensed resource ect. the Copyright Obtained box is checked, if they choose not a fair use it is left blank. this work around is ok so far, but it would be better to have similar (or better) functionality as a default in the system. However, we weren't able to create any functionality like this on the cloning side, so we are only able to instruct (text box) faculty to place a new request if any of the items being cloned are not a fair use. This is not an ideal work around, we wish there was a way to faculty to indicate fair use again for items being cloned.

We've taken advantage of the wildcard field on the webforms to ask "What is the basis on which this work may be posted?" Instructors can choose whether it's a work licensed by the library, Open Access, permitted under fair dealing, etc. It provides more nuance and forces the instructor to think a little but about what they're posting rather than clicking a box on autopilot. I've voted for this suggestion because I fully agree that this should be a default feature, but hopefully a little more fleshed out.

Jessica,
We could easily work this into the existing web forms using a wildcard field. We can definitely take this into consideration as a default option, but shoot us a support ticket if you want to work together to come up with an immediate solution. Once we get it figured out, we can share it in the Ares community, too. As a reminder, the email is: support@atlas-sys.com-Kerry
