Sometimes there is a need to have more than one file attached to an item record, for example when you need to provide an alternate format copy (for accessibility purposes) in addition to the original document. Also you may wish to post a video with an accompanying transcript, or an image file in addition to a text file. It doesn't make sense to have to create two separate items when the related files belong together. It would also be good to be able to associate two or more different URLs with the same item record.

In fact, enable usage to diplay in ALL of the queues - it should be another option to pull into any grid via the Column Chooser. Thanks!

We import our hard copy usage data into Ares each night from our ILS. Having these totals on the grid of course items would be VERY helpful.

Actually, we need all item notes to display in the grid, so it is easy to see at a glance which items in the grid display have relevant notes - this is needed whether it's an instructor note or a staff note.

Ideally, would like to see both options still available. Sometimes instructors want to know when individual items are available. Let instructors choose what they'd prefer (or if they want both).

I agree with Jenny on all counts. Not sure it's an option, with CCC or even when dealing directly with rights holders, to decide whether you want to pay based on enrolment or actual use. Mostly this is decided by the rights holder.

I have done the same as Todd in order to provide our librarians with the information they need, but this is not ideal. Librarians need to be able to access collections and usage data within Ares in real time, on an as-needed basis. If they are meeting with a faculty member about purchasing content for the collection, they should be able to view that faculty member's reserve lists as part of that conversation.
This is a serious issue at my institution - it's a significant obstacle to developing an integrated approach to collection management/development.Heather Martin

I have some concerns about this. Perhaps this could be a setting that could be turned off or on, depending on the practices of each institution. There are times we do need to make materials available before copyright permission has been obtained, so we would want to retain the ability to do this if necessary.

I'd actually like to see usage displayed in every grid - those who don't want to see it can always remove it from the grid display.

I care more about items that ARE used vs. those that are not. A usage report that showed usage of all items, by semester, as well as month-to-month, is what I really need. Thanks.
