We definitely need our ILL management system to support workflows for applying OCR. This involves not just applying OCR as part of our delivery automation, but also figuring out how to use the language code from bib records to choose the best language script and how to use OCR confidence level to identify bad scans without human intervention.

Well said, Jessica! I agree that a more systematic approach that provides OCR to all files delivered to all ILL and document delivery users would be preferable.

I would love a “Report a problem” button on the download articles page with a couple of predefined selections (wrong article, missing pages, no OCR, bad scan, etc.) plus a comments field that—when used—adds a patron note and a flag for staff review.

I would love to have a read-only option Ares client access. We would use this for the generic accounts used by the dozens of student assistants who help patrons across 7 library service desks. If a patron cannot log into the learning management system (which for us is increasingly common now that we have multi-factor authentication), the employee at the desk needs to be able to search Ares to see if the item is on reserve without being able to make any changes to these items.

I support this addition! To make this feature most useful for us, we would need to be able to:
(1) Limit instructors contacted by specific semesters (i.e. not email all instructors with records in Ares, but ones who used reserves in the past academic year).
(2) Schedule the date this reminder would be sent in advance. If this scheduling could somehow tie into semester maintenance, even better. (I'm envisioning a customization manager key where you could input the number of days before a start date or after an item addition date that this email reminder would send, so you wouldn't have to specify the date each semester). -

Q#1: I think this enhancement would be primarily for the do-it yourself instructors. For those who ask us to their data entry, I can't imagine them doing an export from the citation management system; some of them are still dropping off print copies of their syllabi at the circ desk.
Q#2: primarily import a pile of items. I think batching is where the primary benefit of this enhancement lies. It's easy enough to fill out a form for one item; where you really want this option is when you have a list of 10+ articles, all of which you happen to have citations for in Zotero.

We still subscribe to EndNote, but most of our liasion librarians recommend Zotero to library users.

This enhancement would actually result in a loss of functionality for our particular implementation. We use the Aeon loan option on ILLiad article requests to request retrieval in advance of sending an ILL student to scan excerpts of medium rare materials in special collections. Photoduplication is reserved for full text, preservation quality reformatting of public domain materials by our Digital Conversion unit.
