Ability to batch remove users, courses, and items with a utility
Some sites re-use usernames.

We would really appreciate having an automated way to remove student information for those who are not currently enrolled in a given semester. This would help us more easily comply with our data retention policies.

We would love this! It would work best if ti could be staff initiated, with a degree of control over the time frame - for example, we have a rule of thumb to keep reserves materials for two years. If we could run a batch deletion for all courses that ended before a certain date, that would make it easy to do routine removals.
An additional feature that would be incredibly beneficial would be the ability to mass email instructors who will be affected. We could provide a few weeks warning to everyone whose old courses are about to be deleted, and give them an opportunity to clone over or save old items that they don't want to lose.

A batch removal for courses and items would also be very useful for us.

We have courses that no longer exist or was changed and thus they need to be removed from Ares. Genie and Angela helped with creating a query to delete them. However, I wish a script can be set up to run the deletion job on a regular basis as this is definitely a re-occurring issue as courses are loaded into Ares every day.

My vote would be for a staff-initiated process. We do like to use the numbers of courses with no items for data on our participation rates in the service.

After the semester is complete, Ares should delete any courses from that completed semester that have no items in them. This is more common now that sites are using the course and user load option with creation.
In addition to the courses, Ares should remove any users that have no courses assigned to them.
This could either be a job that the System Manager runs periodically or have a user interface for the staff to initiate.
