An error occurred while saving the comment Genie Shropshire commentedAh, yes, that what we meant by the "description field" is to show the human-readable text.

An error occurred while saving the comment Genie Shropshire commentedAres only has info in its database concerning the number of times an electronic item was clicked on, so this report could only show electronic usage. It would take a link between the ILS and Ares to store the number of times a hard copy was checked out to get that report.
That link could possibly be its own idea here in UserVoice for us to explore how to make that happen.

An error occurred while saving the comment Genie Shropshire commentedThis was primarily added to show the electronic item usage (because we have that info already in the Ares database). If we can figure out a way to link to hard copy usage data from the ILS, it could possibly be shown as well.

An error occurred while saving the comment Genie Shropshire commentedThis relates well to your other idea about parent/child relationships.
Would you want to merge them into a new name? So Cat Publishing and Kitten Publishing becomes Feline Publishing? Or do you want to keep the history that it used to be Cat/Kitten?

An error occurred while saving the comment Genie Shropshire commentedThis is a neat idea and one we haven't heard before. Would it be helpful to have a rightsholder group you could assign them to? That would allow you to still have the individual rightsholders but still combine them in the case of mergers or other relationships that have them associated.
And if so, would a rightsholder need to be part of more than one group?

An error occurred while saving the comment Genie Shropshire commentedThat makes sense. We've had other sites offer suggestions or have questions about how best to handle one physical item attached to multiple courses.

An error occurred while saving the comment Genie Shropshire commentedThe impact of this may be minimized since photoduplication queues are not counted in request limits by default.

An error occurred while saving the comment Genie Shropshire commentedFor example, sites say they would like for staff to be able to add additional fees (such as labor fees or use fees) to an Aeon estimate for the user to approve before doing the work and then generating a final invoice.
Currently, staff can make changes to the auto-generated estimate but unless they actually generate an invoice, those estimate changes are deleted when the transaction record is closed.

An error occurred while saving the comment Genie Shropshire commentedTodd and Noah,
Yes, we want to "beef up" the cross-listing functionality in Ares. Adding the external ID is a good idea. We're still noodling over the best way to handle it all specifically.

An error occurred while saving the comment Genie Shropshire commentedThanks for the info, Noah!
The way cross-listing works in Ares right now is basically that one course is the "real" one and the other is just an alias to find it. But that doesn't work very well for people who are accessing reserves from a course management system that knows which courses they have registered for. And like you said, it's possible for an instructor to have multiple sections of the same course (possibly with different names).
Would shared lists work for what you're experiencing? If the instructor made a shared list of the items applicable to the multiple sections and then applied it to the sections? We've found that sites aren't really using shared lists as much as we thought and we're not sure if it's because it doesn't do what they want and/or they aren't clear how to use it. :)

An error occurred while saving the comment Genie Shropshire commentedCan you give some details on how you're setting the flag before it's checked out? What flags are you using during that process? There isn't a way in Aeon (yet) to automatically remove flags if a status changes but we have looked into it.
Thanks!

Can you give examples of what kinds of fields you are storing? We are trying to decide what fields would be best to add.
