Deadlines for Request Submission To combat the issue of instructors requesting material up until the start (and sometimes after) of the course, perhaps a deadline restriction can be set for open quarters / semesters to prevent last minute requests.

Improve Web Proxy Automatic Capabilities The current behavior makes it too easy to create bad links. Instructors don't know if ProxyDefault is set to Yes and it will automatically break links to non-proxied URLS without the knowledge of the instructor. The actual link doesn't display on the Show Item screen and if the default functionality of letting WebLinks go straight to available is turned on, there's nothing to stop the broken links from immediately going live.
Also, if there's a value in the WebProxy key, even if UseProxy is set to No, it will prepend the value if you click the checkbox and actually add…

Set end date for full proxies. Many faculty only need a particular full proxy for one academic year, but there's no way in Ares to indicate when their access to the instructor's material should end. This is problematic for copyright and also because Ares addresses all emails to instructors AND their full proxies, which means proxies may get emails about all sorts of irrelevant courses after their work with the faculty member has ended. Having the option to set an end date (or end semester) would be very helpful. The full proxies could either be purged on that date or simply flagged for review.

Make <#DLL> tag more restrictive so won't output querystring parameters if the action was the exit/logoff action (action=99). UOttawa uses a language toggle JS button we put on their pages. If a user logs out and logs back in, the 99 form number is retained in the URL. If the user then goes to change the language, the JS will reload the page, within a separate web folder that houses the alternate language pages. Since the URL still has the 99 action, the user is logged off.

Keep all tabs open when moving between processing sites We use multiple processing sites. If I have a search or an item record open, they automatically close when I switch to the other site. It would be great if that search or item record stayed active despite what site I'm on.

Make Static Alerts on the GLogon pages editable from within the client. GLogon.html and GLogon2.html have spaces available for including static alerts that can be seen without logging in. Instead of editing the html of those pages to change those static alerts, it would be nice if it were editable in the client interface.

Remove tabindex=0 on elements that do not need focus the tabindex=0 should be removed from any elements that do not explicitly need to be focusable via tab. Screen readers users will be able to reach the text regardless whether it is in the tab order or not. It'll likely just confuse keyboard users.

Ability to limit which status(es) batch item upload will work with They would like for the batch item upload to only upload files for items that are at specific queues, such as 'In Stacks Searching' and/or 'Awaiting Scanning.' They would like for it to work the way Odyssey Helper does in ILLiad. This is because the batch upload functionality automatically routes the item to available on reserves. Staff might still have to do a few things with it, such as finish copyright processing.

Make OpenURL importing smarter regarding possible blank values If an OpenURL string contains a field with a blank value, skip that field and use one of the later ones in the string that does contain a value.

It'd be nice to have active links in the location field for eReserves items (similar to how links are displayed in the Link Checker). Therefore, there would be no need to open the item record in order to access the link, and it would also make it easier to copy/paste.

Monitoring length of time item is in "Awaiting copyright processing" virtual queue It would be nice to measure how long items stay in the “Awaiting Copyright Processing” queue. Currently, when staff open an item in this queue and check for copyright compliance, if everything is ok, they simply remove the checkmark in the “Copyright required” box and the item is removed from the queue. However, removing the checkmark is not recorded in the “History” tab of the item. Therefore, I cannot see a way to measure (retrospectively) the time it takes between an item arriving in that queue (currently I look at the CurrentStatusDate to see when an item has arrived in…

create mail merge function for Harvard Business Review permissions letters Frequently, there are rightsholders who require custom permissions letters to be sent to them via PDF. the course information is in Ares, but there is no good way to merge this information with a mail merge template.

Make item availability dependent on copyright being processed The copyright process is a virtual queue, meaning that it can be processed at any point during the transaction. But there is nothing stopping a site from putting something up on the web before copyright has been verified.
It doesn't often happen, just because of the timing. And if something comes up, sites typically just remove the item. But some sites would like to make the item availability dependent on copyright being completed.

Check out feature for instructor owned items Currently, the majority of our physical reserves are faculty copies that we have to add as temporary items to our ILS. This causes all manner of problems for our catalogers and for ILL (as we get a number of requests for these items). However, if Ares had a system very similar to the one in ILLiad that allows us to check in items from other libraries, I feel this would solve that problem. In ILLiad, we check a book from a lending library in using the ILL number, and a slip prints out with our TN, allowing us to scan…
