    View only access could facilitate a number of situations in Reserves:
    • Licensing or the ability to reduce the cost of something if it cannot be downloaded
    • Controlled digital lending
    • Perhaps being able to expand our definition of Fair Use (the percentage of a work we are willing to place on reserve), without the ability to download, the affect on the market (one of the four factors) may be lessened.

    We have several programs partnered with other institutions, we would like to allow those students to request articles/book chapters, but not books (returnables). These are mostly distance students who would never come to campus to pick up a book and mailing books isn't something we want to offer at this time.

    This would need to be something that could be turned on or off (in an admin setting somewhere) and by-passed within the client (if need be). Keep in mind that not all correct UPS addresses will validate against the USPS database. Our USPS address is a PO Box, but our UPS/FedEx address is a street address - validating our street address against the USPS database will always fail, but our address is correct in the Policies Directory.

    I too support this option! I like Hilary's suggestions. Limit instructions to last academic year or two years OR have list of semesters and check box the ones you want to use. Ability to schedule the message would also be very helpful.

    View this item, in general works, but it might be nice to customize the message by document type or even each time. Sometimes I would like "click here for ebook" or something like that.
